About me
My name is Magnus Fredriksson and I’m an animator, filmmaker, illustrator and artist born in Kiruna on a cold November day in 1977. I have lived here all my life, except for a year in Visby and a year in Japan.
After short stints in local-tv, as an illustrator and in the advertisement business, I decided to follow my passion and try to become an animator. I moved to Visby for film studies and a few years later my first animated short film, The Red Shoe, was released.
In 2007 I co-funded the small animation studio Bortbyting with Håkan Rudehill och Anton Hennix Raukola. Since then I have made about 40 short films and commercials.
When I have free time I paint, screen print, build puppets or take photographs.
In 2005 I was awarded the Film Kick. I have also recieved the Rubus Arcticus grant in 2006, the Kiruna Municipality Culture Grant in 2011. In 2015, I recieved a grant from Irma and Einar Forseths culture fund and in 2019 I recieved a grant from Stiftelsen Greta.
I have exhibited art in both Sweden and Japan.
